Ιστορία
Σύμφωνα με τη μυθολογία , οι Παξοί δημιουργήθηκαν όταν ο θεός Ποσειδώνας χτύπησε με την τρίαινα του την Κέρκυρα , αποκόπτοντας το νότιο άκρο της και σχηματίζοντας τους Παξούς , για να στεγάσει τον ερωτά του με την Αμφιτρίτη. Έχασε όμως την τρίαινα του, την οποία βρήκαν οι Παξινοί και την έκαναν έμβλημά τους. Ο Όμηρος πρώτος αναφέρει τους Παξούς .Οι κάτοικοι ήταν ηπειρωτικής καταγωγής , ελληνόφωνες. Πρώτοι έποικοι φαίνεται να ήταν οι Φοίνικες, που είχαν αποικία τους την Κεφαλονιά.
